History of the Philadelphia Museum of Art: PMA Benefactors

Resources for researching the history of the museum, including exhibitions.

This electronic resource profiles some of the individuals whose gifts—be it art, monetary contributions or energy and vision—have had a lasting and transformative impact on the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In turn, the Museum—its collections of art, its programs and its place in the community—remains each benefactor’s enduring legacy. Each profile consists of three parts: (1) biographical sketch; (2) biographical details that include summaries of other objects and projects related to the benefactor and/or family; and (3) bibliography.
