Scan Request Instructions for Outside Researchers

SCAN REQUESTS ARE CURRENTLY ON HOLD

Once scanning services resume, the following procedures apply:

Researchers requesting scans of library materials must follow the below instructions:

  • A link to the needed resource in our online catalog, as well as the title, call number, and location in the body of your email.

  • The needed page ranges or lot numbers.

  • If you are looking for a specific artwork in a resource but don’t know the page or lot number, include an image of the artwork in your email, along with the title, year, and dimensions, if known.

  • Please request no more than 20 pages at a time. Note that all scans include the title and copyright pages.

  • Scan requests may be delayed or declined if they exceed 20 pages, do not include adequate citation information, and/or require additional research.

  • If your request is declined, you may schedule an on-site appointment to review Library materials in our Reading Room. We will contact you with further instructions.

  • If you are currently affiliated with another research or academic library based in the U.S., we kindly ask that you request materials through their interlibrary loan service first.

  • Scan requests may take up to 10 business days to be filled.
