How to Use the Library Catalog

Museum Staff may request library materials from the collection using the Library's online catalog by going to library.philamuseum.org.

1. To place a request, you will first need to log in to your library account. In the upper right-hand corner of the online catalogclick Login.

2. On the Login page, you will be presented with two login options. As a PMA staff member, select the first option which will automatically authenticate you in the system.

3. Once logged in, use the search box to enter a search term. Click Find.

4. On the search results page, you can toggle results based on additional criteria under Refine Results. To place a request for an item, click on the Title you are interested in.

5. Clicking on the title will open the record, where you will find more information about the item. On this page, scroll down to Holdings and select Place a Hold.

6. On the Place a Request pop-up page, enter a date into the "No longer required after" field (optional). Select PMA Library from the Pickup Location drop-down menu. It should already be auto-filled. Click on Submit Request. Optionally, include a comment in the comment field if necessary.

7. Once the request is submitted, you'll be returned to your account page, where you can see an overview of your holds, recalls, and checked out items. This is also where you can go to renew your current checked out items.

Once the request is received and processed, you will receive an email notifying you that your item is ready to be picked up. Items ready for pickup are placed on the library pickup and return carts near the Media Room on the Lower Level of the Perelman Building.

8. If you do not see what you are looking for, you can request an item through interlibrary loan (ILL)

9. Select the Repeat Search in EZBorrow (ILL) that appears underneath the search bar after a search.

This repeats the search term in EZBorrow, and allows you to seamlessly request the material after signing in through your home institution (Philadelphia Art Museum).

10. If the book you are looking for is not available through EZBorrow, return to your initial search in the library catalog and select Requesting the Item through Interlibrary Loan which appears in the second blue box when there are no search results. This linked page provides more information about EZBorrow and how to search through WorldCat.
